Linda Blair
Linda Blair was five years old when she was the first child actress to get a role in The Exorcist. She had worked as a model for the previous 3 years, and was then cast as the child possessed, Regan. Linda got the Golden Globe and was on course to win an Academy Award. However, when it became public that Mercedes McCambridge had dubbed the evil voice and the eight seconds were acted by a stunt duo she was left with a nightmare of a career on the A-list did not materialize. The next couple of years she didn't have any trouble getting leads in a wide range of movies, including the wildly successful television series Born Innocent (1974) (the top TV film of the year) as well as Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic (1975), as well as the Exorcist sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). They arrested her and gave her three years of probation after peer-pressured her into purchasing cocaine when she turned age 18. The widely-publicized bust for drugs caused Linda to be blacklisted by Hollywood as well as her professional profession was later reduced to B-movies with occasional guest appearances only
